In this mountainous territory, the heirs of the Antioqueños colonizers are struggling to preserve a way of life that was built around coffee, and that today, UNESCO recognizes it in its “World Heritage List”, as the Coffee Cultural Landscape. As a response, local communities are organizing around the defense and exaltation of their cultural traditions. These complexities mix with an immense geographical diversity, a distinctive feature that makes the region internationally recognized, among many other things, as a hotspot for birdwatching. In this tour, which will start in Pereira —the central city of the region— and finishing in the beautiful typical coffee town of Salento, admire an incomparable variety of landscapes and biodiversity, while getting in touch with local associations —that despite the government— aim to maintain their intrinsic relationship with nature.
